Gayle Pohl

BA, Choral Conducting, Calvin College, Grand Rapids, Michigan
Multiple years independent study of vocal, organ, string, and brass music performance.

Mrs. Pohl’s career in the musical arts dates back more than 30 years, during which she has served as conductor, director, teacher, actor, and producer in various concert and entertainment productions. She has been actively involved in the artistic and interpretive disciplines of the performing arts, with major engagement in choral and keyboard music. Her more than ten years of independent study of vocal music and nine years studying organ have made Mrs. Pohl a uniquely qualified leader and mentor in serious vocal music presentation. These talents, in tandem with her demonstrated organizational skills, combine to provide the intellectual and artistic dynamic to produce an optimum blend of tonal quality and performance discipline.

During her career, Mrs. Pohl has directed legitimate theater; choreographed Broadway-type productions; conducted adult and children’s handbell and vocal choirs; and managed design, implementation, supervision, production, and direction of vocal, theatrical, and musical productions. In addition to conducting the Greater Lansing Orpheus Male Chorus since 1996, she has served as musical director and worship minister of several area churches.

Mrs. Pohl has received the President’s Award, 2003 – Associated Male Choruses of America, Best Costumes Award, 1998 – River Walk Theater, Lansing, MI, and the Outstanding Service Award, 1989 – Grand Rapids Junior College, Grand Rapids, MI.
