The Men of Orpheus

The Men of Orpheus was organized in 1926 as a men's Glee Club sponsored by the REO Motor Car Company. We later extended our membership to men of all vocations throughout the Lansing area and incorporated as a nonprofit organization. The club is affiliated with the Great Lakes Male Chorus Association, representing the Greater Lansing and Mid-Michigan areas. Our membership is open to all interested male singers willing to commit one evening a week to the relaxation of making music in an atmosphere of fellowship.

The Men of Orpheus perform for many local organizations that request our presence. We regularly sing for retirees at facilities in communities through out Mid-Michigan and perform for various churches in Lansing, Grand Ledge and Webberville, and for senior citizens groups in Williamston and other outlying communities. In addition to our formal Winter and Spring Concerts we regularly perform in concert in Lansing and other Mid-Michigan venues. We are amateur singers with a passion for singing who are devoted to enhancing and advancing vocal music for men. We cherish the fellowship of men singing together.

The GLMCA is composed of male community choruses organized in the Great Lakes area. The premier event each year is a Big Sing concert, sponsored by one of the Association's choruses, in which each member chorus performs individually and with the massed chorus.
